God hears and protects

わたしが呼び求める日に、わたしの敵は退きます。これによって神がわたしを守られることを知ります

Does God protect us from danger. Yes.

Does God prevent all dangers from effecting us. No.

For those who have faith, though, death is not the end. Heaven provides ultimate assurance and ultimate peace and ultimate protection.

You have to go back to Genesis to understand the origins of suffering and evil. Satan is the root cause. Blaming God for the behavior of satan is dubious one, and one which misunderstands reality and truth. In fact, its a confusion instigated by Satan himself.

Beyond that humans have to look in the mirror. Free will and human choice are the basis of much evil in the world.

The 23rd Psalm provides context and explanation on this issue:

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
